Thanks for the suggestion Mike! I took your title suggestion! Also, thanks to whomever tweaked the language on the poster session already. It looks good!

I am still editing the proposal--any last minute suggestions? And, anyone else need to be listed on the program? Let me know by 6 p.m.!

Sorry about not being as involved in the revision process. The proposal
looks great.

I do think though that the poster session should emphasize race in its
title since the title of the overall workshop is "Basic Writing and
Race." Perhaps a title along the lines of "Race, Locality, and the
Public Work of Basic Writing" would work. To emphasize race more, we
might want to change a few of the details about what types of posters
the session would include, but I think the title is more essential.

Of course, like my students, I'm coming in at the last moment. The
concern with the title of the poster session is but a minor concern. I
am impressed with the amount of work that has gone into this proposal
both from the board as a whole and from Liz herself. Thanks all.

proposal. Great work! I've massaged it a little and added in a
quotation from a recent article as grounding (perhaps better than just
listing names without articles and dates?). See what you think. I lost
track of who edited what, but I wanted to point out that I did revise a
revision to take out the discussion of class and gender. While I know
that we all agree that race is inextricably intertwined with other
factors, I wanted to honor the specific discussion the editorial board
had about focusing on race (see board minutes and Hannah's earlier
commentary on this proposal).

publishing workshop. I think focusing the publishing workshop on race
alone (publishing about race and basic writing) is too limiting when
people may have many ideas. However, to Hannah's point about weaving
race into the overall proposal, I wonder about revising the open poster
session and asking for presentations on basic writing and race. Our
roundtable is going to do a lovely job with this as well, but what if
the poster presentations focused on many different aspects of basic
writing and race? If you like this idea, I'll revise that language.

race specifically, but something that definitely speaks to our group:
how you support and sustain basic writing programs.

I'll defer to you to introduce him. If not, Sugie or I can introduce
