i All,
I'm getting ready to leave (in an hour!) and will be off-line for all of
next week. If there's easy access to the Internet, I may check in
mid-week, but I'm not going to promise if for now, since I'm not sure
what I'm walking into. I'm back on 5/1, which will give us another week
to nail down the details.
Thanks in advance to everyone for all of your fabulous ideas and
comments.
Here's where we are right now:
Basic Writing and Race: A Symposium
Morning:
1. Keynote--hopefully Victor Villanueva (Bill, let us know how that
comes along)
2. Poster session featuring new scholars (call to come out later).
3. Networking
Afternoon:
4. Roundtable on Basic Writing and Whiteness)
5. Publishing/Grant writing workshop.
6. Reception again (if they're game?)
I was originally going to invite editors to do the publishing workshop,
but I love Lynn's idea of making it a workshop. We could have groups
according to where people are at with publishing, ranging from ideas to
manuscript critiques.
What do you think?

Hi everyone,
First, thanks to all for the welcoming words. I'm looking forward to
working with each of you.
As for CBW 2013, I also support Liz's idea of the publishing and grant
writing workshop. The Computers and Writing Conference offers a similar
session as part of the Graduate Research Network, and it's by far the
most
valuable part of my conference experience there every year. I wonder if
we
could model their approach and ask folks to bring ideas or research in
progress for a mentoring session on publishing.
Everything else sounds fantastic for next year!
Best,
Lynn
