[CBW_Exec] FW: Wednesday workshop question

Thank you for the discussion on this issue. I would hate to see CBW go to a half
day. This full- day preconference is the ONE chance that many folks involved in
BW get to participate in the scholarship of our field. If we try to get it all
in three hours, we just don't have the impact that a full day makes possible.
The workshop sets up the conference for the 20-50 people who are able to attend.

I also think that cutting it to a half day lessens the impact of the Sense of
the House Motion. If we don't believe that BW warrants a full day, why should it
be considered for featured sessions or its own strand?

Think of how many ideas we suggested for the precon. We basically had to narrow
it to only two, and then choose from those. If we cut that time in half, we are
necessitating the removal of half the content. And part of the draw is the
workshop format, which is possible in part because of the length of time we have.

ALP is a proven program, it will continue to have positive effects where it is
implemented, and it should be one of the ideas supported by CBW. I think it was
even part of the precon a couple of years ago. I just don't think we should
halve what we offer for it or any other program, no matter how promising.

While I see alternative points, I suggest that we continue with the planned
full-day preconference. kb
