Hello All,
(I posted this on the listserv, but the list is still down. Since the
opportunity to comment meaningfully on this story is limited, I wanted
to make sure at least some CBWers got to see this note.)

The story of our conference proceedings is up at InsideHigherEd and it
seems like a fairly good one.

Whilethere are a couple of things I might have stated differently,
thisstory covers the issue well and, remarkably, centers mostly on
ourvoices. (Incidentally, I am amazed at the work and the
resultantcoherence that Serena Golden, the author of the piece, put into
this.)It's worth noting that IHE contains a comment function where
readerscan respond to stories. Since stories only remain on the front
pagefor a day, however, comments should be made today. While
commentsections don't have a lot of power, I'm guessing that a vibrant
commentsection on an article can garner some notice by the editorial
staff. To that end, comments that make vitals claims about the function
ofBasic Writing on our campuses might have more power than
simplycomments that say, "I was at CCCC this year and this article is
right."

Happy Monday, all.
