Hello CBW Board--Last of a flurry of e-mails. See you tomorrow, Thursday, or, if not, soon in cyberspace...
Here is the "final" agenda for our Board meeting on Thursday. Please also remember to bring checkbooks if you can, to donate to our two worthy causes--the stickers and the housing of JBW. --Hannah

Conference on Basic Writing Executive Board Meeting
Agenda
Thursday, March 18, 2010 -- 3-5pm
Location: Galt House Hotel, Hannah Ashley’s room (Executive Suite, ask Hannah for room number or call/text 215-512-9760)
1. Basic Writing social justice policy statement—Susan (lead drafter/subcommittee chair)
• Kudos… BWSJPS went to BWe, along with responses
• Discussion: Is statement now ready to be taken to CCCC for adoption? If so, who will take it to next steps? (Current committee members can re-present statement, including Susan, Debra, Eileen, Sugie, Bill)
2. Building membership—Kelly (Membership chair)
• Kudos on what has happened…
o Buttons/stickers—Hurray! Please kick in your contributions
o Handing out 100 copies of the Bedford Bib at workshop and SIG
o Use of the blog
o A member/mailing list is now available for our use (we should continue to gather sign ups from workshop and SIG and add to it)
o An announcement should be going into the next TETYC (not until after CCCC 2010)
• Discussion: Now that we have members and ways to communicate with them, what do we want to do (this discussion is connected to #3, below)?
• Do we want to collect dues/membership fee ($5-10 was suggested last year)
3. Who/what is this board, discussion—Hannah (Process queen)
• Kudos—New folks were invited to BWe board! Much follow through on our jobs from last year!
• Discussion: What is the purpose of this board? Is it advisory or executive or governing?
• Given its purpose—how big should board be (size)? How long should members serve? Should members rotate off, on and off, serve in perpetuity? How do we recruit new members?
• Does the board need a name change?
4. Nominations/elections for next co-chairs?
• Shannon and Hannah will complete their terms next year (2011), so we need two new co-chairs for 2012-2014.
5. State of our funds (e-report from Greg)—After the $500 award is given this year to Joyce Inman, we have $1,458.18 in savings.
• Request for partial funding for JBW e-warehousing, from Rebecca
If time: Basic Writing e-journal—Shannon & Susan (Editors)—Continued from 2009 discussions and e-mail conversations
• Kudos—Associate editor positions established and BWe looks great!
• Associate Editor positions: (Barbara--Pedagogy; Peter--linkages; Sonja & Kathleen--book review; Liz, Greg, Kelly, Bill, Rebecca--Editorial board).
• Discussion points
• Special issue editors or special sections—these could be occasional. We had proposed one on “newer scholars” last year, but Barbara doing next one on “Multi-modal literacies: Learning, Access and Support Among Students, Instructors and Institutions.” Who is willing to help review manuscripts for next issue?
• Add: to mission/home: privileging newer authors; "news" section/media action section; blog section (could this not just be linked to the CBW blog-- http://cbwblog.wordpress.com)
• What is the status of the “subscription list” for BWe?
Awards—check membership of committees; see if there are issues
• Innovation Award committee: Greg*, Sugie, Peter, no Inny, due to no submissions strong in all three categories (Originality, Portability, Results/Benefits)
• BW Fellowship committee: Sonya*, Liz , Kelly, Bill: Winner: Joyce Inman, Basic Writing Coordinator at The University of Southern Mississippi
