Hi, all,
I've just notified the applicants for the 2010 INNY that they did not win -- the committee decided that no application was quite "there" as yet, and while some were strong, they just were not strong enough, did not have sufficient data, were not innovative, etc.
So, we will not award an INNY this year.
Many thanks to Peter and Sugie for their wonderful (and hard) work on this committee this year; we'll do it again next!
best,
gg

Greetings everyone,
First, congratulations to Greg for all of your endeavors-- and the bibliography looks great!
And now: Here are my comments on the agenda items:
Peace and warm regards to all of you,
Susan
Item #1: Sugie and Bill-- we need to email ASAP to check in about the social justice policy.
Item #2: Barbara Gleason and I would like to edit the next issue of BWe. Barbara's proposal for this special issue is copied below. I have already consulted with Shannon and we (Barbara, Shannon, and I) look forward to hearing your feedback.
FROM BARBARA GLEASON:
I would like to take on the responsibility of editing a special topics issue of BWe on this topic: "multimodal literacies: learning, access and support among students, instructors and institutions." This issue could spin out of the CBW workshop in 2010. CBW members could contribute ideas and also their own manuscripts -- if they want to. The special topics call for papers could be discussed at the CBW EB meeting and announced at the CBW SIG, which I plan to attend.
This topic (as stated above) is a rough draft of how the topic might eventually be articulated. I would be more than happy to flesh out and form ideas in collaboration with Susan and Shannon. The really good news is that I could recruit current graduate students to assist with the editorial process. They would learn a lot and BWe would benefit from their labor. As you know, I served as the managing editor of The Writing Instructor as USC for 2 years. I have lots of experience issuing a call for papers for a special topics issue, manuscript review and selection, and communicating with authors about suggested revisions. I would be able to teach students about these practices and I'd love to work out a plan where you could mentor one or more of our L&L grad students as an "editorial assistant" either on this or a future BWe issue.
