I'm searching for data nationwide on the success rate of first-year 
composition students who have previously taken developmental writing. 
Does anyone have references?

We thought we should let you know how we have decided to proceed with 
the
National Survey of Basic Writing. Deborah and I have discussed the 
feedback
we received from you and how to deal with the various issues you raised.
We want to use Survey Monkey and see what kind of response we get from
institutions across the country. Deborah and I will be meeting later in 
the
summer to work out all the details and then will send the survey after
classes have resumed in the fall--probably about the 3rd week of 
September.
At that point, we'll need your help in encouraging people to take a few
minutes to fill it out.

In the meantime, we send you our best wishes for a productive and 
enjoyable
summer.
