Dr. Dale came to A&M-Commerce at the beginning of the spring semester (January 2014) as Department Head and while here only a short while, made a positive impact on the lives of the students, faculty, and staff he touched. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and his remains returned to his family home in Kansas.

Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the School of Social Work (P.O. Box 3011, Commerce, TX 75429) and we will forward them on. Since there are no services planned for here, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers could be made to the Social Work MSW Endowed Scholarship fund. I will be meeting with the Dean of our college this afternoon to determine next steps for our department to ensure continuity and cohesiveness during this time of transition and will communicate subsequent decisions.

As a close-knit department and social work community, this loss certainly impacts every one of us and Dale’s unexpected departure should keep us mindful to make the most of every minute we have because life can truly be too short.
