<p class=MsoNormal>Dear Conference Attendee,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The <ns0:place><ns1:sn>San</ns1:sn></ns0:place> <ns1:middlename>Luis</ns1:middlename>
<ns1:sn>Convention Center</ns1:sn> and Resort, including the Hilton and Holiday
Inn, are fully functional and looking forward to hosting our annual conference,
November 6-8. The Mayor of Galveston is coming to welcome us – our very
presence is part of supporting the rebuilding of the city.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>We understand your concern about hotel availability and
safety. We have contacted the Galveston County Public Health
Department and received this response <b><u>6 weeks before</u></b> our
conference “…..the convention district hotels and properties are
already looking very good. That particular area of the city is probably
the most back together at this time. Many of the restaurants are also
open along the seawall and you can be assured that they are operating in a safe
manner when it comes to food as our sanitarians have been doing all of the
inspections.”<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>We have posted several links on our website: <a
href="http://www.naswtx.org" target="_blank">www.naswtx.org</a> from the
Galveston.com website showing updates of the city including San Luis Resort and
Spa, Hilton Galveston Island Resort and Holiday Inn on the Beach.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>All hotels in the <ns0:place><ns0:city>Galveston</ns0:city></ns0:place>
area are working diligently to get their reservations systems back up and
running. We ask that you be patient while they work and we will let you
know via our website when they are ready to start taking reservations
again. They are hopeful that the phone systems will be fully operational
by <ns0:date ns2:ls="trans" ns2:month="10" ns2:day="15" ns2:year="2008">October
15, 2008</ns0:date>.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Be assured that if you made a reservation at one of the
conference hotels (San Luis, Hilton or Holiday Inn) prior to Hurricane Ike, <b><u>your
reservation is still valid</u></b>. We can not guarantee your reservation
if you booked outside of one of these hotels. You will need to contact
that hotel to verify that your reservation is still good. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><a href="http://www.galveston.com/islandhotels/"
target="_blank"
title="blocked::http://www.galveston.com/islandhotels/ http://www.galveston.com/islandhotels/">http://www.galveston.com/islandhotels/</a>
is a link to a list of OPEN hotels on the island – they have electricity,
water, etc., their reservation systems are simply not up. We know that
not being able to get through to the hotels is frustrating. Please be
patient as they work to fix the problem. <ns0:city>Galveston</ns0:city>
needs us more than ever right now, so please, come to conference to support the
<ns0:place>Island</ns0:place>.<o:p></o:p></p>
