I am a senior at Texas A&M University-Commerce in the Department of
Computer Science and am running this study with the help of Dr. Sang C.
Suh, who is head of the Department of Computer Science. The purpose of
this study is to assess and increase the cyber security awareness and
repertoire of security techniques of students in Texas A&M University -
Commerce. Data will be collected through means of a survey. The
faculty/staff participation in the survey is expected to indicate some
factors of students' awareness in security as reflected by their
experience with students. Awareness in areas of concern will be brought
into light by means of a workshop utilizing case studies and statistics
from the data gained by the survey administered to both students and the
faculty/staff members. This workshop will improve cyber security
awareness for the students of Texas A&M University-Commerce. The st
udent's part in the study will be to answer survey questions that will
measure their current understanding and knowledge of cyber security
threats, techniques, current implementation, and past experiences.
