 I was hoping that with the mailing list maybe someone could help me! Could it be possible for you to get this out and see if anyone has any ideas?

 

 I need lots of great minds and I knew that my fellow Social Workers could help....Here is the situation, I have a lady that is in her 50's not eligible for Medicare nor Medicaid, therefore has no insurance. She works but her employment doesn't offer health insurance because it is such a small company. She is not insurable through private insurance because she has had diabetes for so long. Currently, she has had a retinal detachment requiring surgery. This will be her second time to have this surgery as it has detached before.  The first time she was able to pay the $8,000 for the surgery and hospital related costs, but now she has depleated her funds. So I am wondering if anyone out there knows of a means to help her. She has already contacted the hospital where she has to have the surgery and they said they can work out a payment agreement but the dr's office won't see her until she has financial means to pay. The Diabetes Association has no assistance for this surgery. The county doesn't have assistance. I am at a loss! Any ideas would be MUCH appriciated!! Thank You!!!
