Please note that Sherry Sheffield is one of our presenters.  Students
who are willing to volunteer some of their time in helping out on the
day of the conference (IE helping with registration, room monitor,
helping with lunch, etc) will have their registration fee waived.
 
 
We are honored to have Sandra Lopez as our Keynote Speaker.  Ms. Lopez
presently serves as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of
Houston - Graduate College of Social Work.  where she has been selected
as Outstanding Faculty by the graduating students for Years 1995, 1996,
1997, 999, 2002 and 2003; and Mentor of the Year for 2007. Ms. Lopez has
held various leadership positions through the National Association of
Social Workers including Board member, Vice-President and President of
the Texas Chapter, Chair of the National Clinical Council on Social
Work, Chair of the NASW Texas Cultural Diversity Committee, and
currently serves as member of the NASW National Nominations and
Leadership Identification Committee.  Due to her long history of
contributions to NASW and to the Social Work profession, in November,
2005, she was honored by the Texas Chapter of the National Association
of Social Workers as they named their annual leadership Institute the
Sandra A. Lopez Leadership Institute.   Her most recent publications
include an article on "Culture and Ethnicity and It's Influence on End
of Life Care" in a book titled When Professionals Weep:  Emotional and
Countertransference Responses in End of Life Care and an article titled
"Honoring Cultural Diversity at End of Life" in the November, 2007
Social Work Today magazine.
