In his exhibition Eyes in Motion, Anthony Reans engages with Op Art through stripe paintings that are both whimsical and rigidly geometrical. Reans creates various types of movement and moods through different patterns of tightly constructed lines. Vivid colors heighten the sense of shifting perspectives, while also imbuing the works with a tongue-in-cheek light-heartedness. For Reans, his practice is both precise and intuitive. He begins his paintings with schematic lines that are then built up more instinctively with an imaginative use of color. Throughout Eyes in Motion, the paintings captivate with a striking balance between their incredibly precise technique and playfully surprising spontaneity.

In 98% Air, Douglas R Dover experiments with reframing molded polystyrene packaging, or Styrofoam, as a contemporary artifact to consumer culture. By taking Styrofoam out of its traditional context as a packing material and recontextualizing it in a gallery setting, Dover imbues the material with a sense of importance, significance, and weight that contrasts with the material’s throwaway nature and physical quality of lightness. Layering soft colors of translucent plastics over Styrofoam packaging, these works take on a formal, abstract quality. There is an ethereal, precision and beauty to Dover’s assembled works that forces a reconsideration of the object, its current function, and, more broadly, our interactions with throwaway, consumable materials.

Ro2 Art Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery located in Dallas' Tin District, just West of Downtown Dallas, that represents a diverse group of emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary artists – many with ties to the North Texas Region. The gallery, founded in 2010 by mother-and-son partners Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth, regularly collaborates with organizations such as The MAC and Cedars Union, and is a proud member of CADD - Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas. Ro2 Art has twice been named Dallas Observer's “Best Art Gallery” and was presented with the 25th Annual Obelisk Award for small business by the North Texas Business Council for the Arts. The gallery’s art fair program has included the Dallas Art Fair, Texas Contemporary, and Art Aspen.
