Colleagues,
We hope your semester has started well and that you are fully back into the swing of things on your campus. Here in Commerce, we have some exciting things going on and have an announcement we want to share with everyone: after a two-year hiatus, ART DAY at A&M COMMERCE IS BACK!
The faculty and students of the Department of Art at A&M Commerce are excited to welcome you back to campus for ART DAY, Saturday October 15, 2022. We have a great line up of workshops and studio experiences that will allow your students in grades 9-12 to explore their creativity in a variety of media and to interact with other student artists from the area. And best of all, ART DAY IS FREE THIS YEAR!! There is no cost for your students to participate.
The day will begin at 8:45am with a quick welcome and information session, followed by our morning session, lunch (provided by the University), another full array of sessions in the afternoon, then an opportunity for students to have their portfolios evaluated. Events will conclude by 3:30pm. Throughout the day, your students will have opportunities to work with members of the A&M Commerce Art Faculty and to interact with our current students. We invite you to check out the full schedule, available on the Art Day websitehttps://pride.tamuc.edu/art/events/art-day-2022/
Art Day is free, but registration for each of our workshops is limited, so make sure to register your students as soon as possible. Registration is available at https://secure.touchnet.com/C20206_ustores/web/store_cat.jsp?STOREID=25&CATID=493 and will be capped once space limits are reached in each of the scheduled workshops. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity or your students! We do not have any options for CPE credit for teachers planned but will be happy to register your attendance for you to use with your own district, as appropriate.
As an added bonus, the Department of Art will be offering scholarships to A&M Commerce through the Portfolio Review process. Graduating Seniors are eligible for these scholarships and are encouraged to bring portfolios of representative works with them to Art Day. Students who receive Honorable Mention, Second Place and First Place honors will be awarded a scholarship good toward registration at A&M Commerce in a coming semester.
We look forward to hosting you and your students on campus this month. Check out the website for information or feel free to call the Department of Art at 903-886-5208. We will be happy to answer your questions and we can’t wait to see you at ART DAY 2022!!
Take care, Go Lions!
