LETTERPRESS AND SILKSCREEN WORKSHOP

This morning and afternoon workshop will introduce students to the hands-on processes of letterpress and silkscreen printing, two art forms staging a major revival in the field of design. Each participant will produce a multi-colored letterpress poster and a silkscreened print series. In the letterpress portion of the workshop, students will learn to lock up a form with an image by utilizing vintage metal and wood type. In the screen printing session, teachers will explore image and color layering through a “mash-up” style of silk screen printing. Outcomes will include screen preparation, emulsion coating, image burning, printing and wash-out techniques.

CHANGING THE WORLD
WITH DESIGN

During two, 2.5 hour sessions participants will participate in the creation of an ad or campaign using aspects of multimedia to address a social or educational issue. This workshop explains the use of motion and video to tell a story. Attendees will have access to a computer lab, video studio and various cameras to complete their vision.
