[Art-HighSchoolTeachers] Department of Art Visual Communication students receive international recognition

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Department of Art Visual Communication program is pleased to announce the inclusion of 16 Visual Communication (VisCom) students in the 2017 Graphis New Talent Annual.
Founded in 1944, Graphis publishes the world’s most significant and influential works in design, advertising and photography. Graphis embraces rising talent and every year visual communication students from all over the world compete to be recognized in this annual publication and their work featured online.
Two VisCom students were awarded with gold, Burning Man poster by Christina Moreland (BFA ‘17) and Binge Adventure Netflix motion by Reese McKinney (BFA ‘17).
In addition, the program received 4 silver awards. Included were Rex’s Seafood Market logo by Nicholas Mackenrodt (BFA ‘16), Constellations poster by Deanna Martin (BFA ‘17), Urban Twist photo series by Morgan Crabtree (BFA ‘17) and Phone Side Effects poster series by Magan Preas (BFA ‘17).
Students were also recognized with 14 merit awards. These honors were for Matco Tools by Aliana Layug (BFA ‘18), Hotter ‘N Hell 100 poster by Sam Nunez (BFA ‘18), The Martian book cover by Alok Manandhar (BFA ‘17), Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance book cover by Amy Yznaga (BFA ‘17), Museum of Sign and Industry logo by Cooper Weinstein (BFA ‘18), The Victims poster by Alex Flores (BFA ‘17), Mad Hatter’s Tea and Luncheon Invitation by Reese McKinney (BFA ‘17), Hotter ‘N Hell 100 poster by Cooper Weinstein (BFA ‘18), Raven poster by Izetta Holland (BFA ‘17), Stranded Oil photo series by Cooper Weinstein (BFA ‘18), The Adolphus Hotel Logo by Cora Woodward (BFA ‘17), Big D BBQ Battle Judge Invitation by Izetta Holland (BFA ‘17), Sweet Tooth Toothpaste by Madison Cordts (BFA ‘17) and Funny Bone Comedy Club logo by Kelsey Paine (BFA ‘18).
"Graphis is a highly competitive international publication and we are so proud of the continued achievements of our Visual Communication students. They work hard, think creatively and change the way we see things," said Lee Whitmarsh, Director of Visual Communication.
The VisCom program at Texas A&M University-Commerce has been an acknowledged leader in Visual Communication for over four decades. Consistent national and international student award recognition reflect the creativity and conceptual thinking of our students and faculty alike. The VisCom program offers a Bachelor of Fine Art in Visual Communication with emphasis in Art Direction, Design and New Media and lives in the Department of Art at the University’s Dallas location.
