[Art-Gallery] Spring Art Walk

The Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Commerce invites you to the 2017 Spring Art Walk, Tuesday, March 21st from 4:00-6:00 pm

Four venues are hosting exhibitions:


  *   Located in the main Art Building, the University Gallery extends the run of the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. Juried by artist and educator, Ryder Richards, this exhibit highlights the work of young artists in our program. There is a delightful mix of mediums and styles you do not want to miss.
  *   Find the colorful and thoughtful paintings of our own, Marilyn Thompson, in the President’s Gallery on the second floor of the BA building. Ms. Thompson coordinates our Art Educators Program, as well as teaches drawing, painting, and design classes. The exhibition, Family Album, provides a look into family dynamics and memory.
  *   The Dean’s Gallery, located in AG/ET 222, is exhibiting the work of undergraduate student, Ryan Jones. With, We Stayed Here, Mr. Jones preserves a forgotten piece of local history associated with the Dream Lodge Motel. The haunting photographs are a mesmerizing reminder of days gone by.
  *   On display in the 2nd Floor Gallery in Wathena Temple Fine Arts is the work of students from Barbara Frey’s Experimental Concepts | Art 380 Class. Students are challenged to use text as a primary artistic component in an original work of art. Come experience text and written language in a n entirely new way.

This is also a great opportunity to talk with artists while viewing their work…Plus there’s food!
