[AreaMusicTeachers] FALL HAPPENINGS for ELEMENTARY MUSIC SPECIALISTS

[Darla Meek]

Hello, Colleagues ~

Happy fall!

Fall is such an exciting time of yearŠthe smiles of new students, the smell
of new school supplies, the new crispness in the air, and the anticipation
of the holidays to come. We will be seeing some NEW things happening at
Texas A&M University-Commerce, too...just for you.

You asked for it...now you got it! This fall, we feature Melissa Ringel as
our presenter with ³What Sounds Are Coming from Your Music Room?² You can
find the flyer and registration form on the TAMUC elementary music website:
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/colleges/humanitiesSocialSciencesArts
/departments/music/elementaryMusicEducation/default.aspx You may remember
watching her students perform at the 2011 TMEA conference. Melissa will help
us turn our students into beautiful singers!

So that we can be prepared for you, with an appropriate site, handouts,
snacks, etc., please try to register early, or drop me an email and tell me
to save your spot.

More exciting news... The new Graduate Cohort has been launched! This
Master¹s program was crafted specially for the professional music educator,
and can be completed in four summers. Last June, eleven new graduate
students completed their first eight hours. Summer 2013 will be the last
opportunity to jump in for a while. If you are interested in knowing more,
please visit our website at the link above.

While you are on the website, browse around. There is a link for the new
LION¹S SHARE Fall Newsletter. It features upcoming elementary music events,
special things that are happening in Northeast Texas music classrooms, and a
lesson plan.

The TAMUC Music Department is committed to advocating your music program,
and providing opportunities to meet your professional needs. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if I can help you in any way.

Sincerely,

Darla Meek, MM
